Determine the independent variables affecting bearing clearance


Before calculating and analyzing the dimensional tolerances of each part in the bearing system, it is necessary to determine the independent variables that affect the bearing clearance. These variables are some dimensions of the corresponding parts. Generally speaking, in a standard bearing system, the independent variables that will affect the bearing clearance are: inner ring diameter, inner ring seat height, outer ring outer diameter, outer ring seat height, shaft outer diameter, bearing seat inner diameter, shaft or bearing seat shoulder width, spacer width, etc. These variables exist independently, but will act together on the setting of bearing clearance value. It is worth noting that, because the clearance of tapered roller bearings refers to the axial clearance, some of the variables such as the outer diameter of the shaft, the outer diameter of the outer ring and other radial variables must be converted into axial values before the subsequent calculation. Figure 3 shows the definition of independent variables in a simple bearing system, and the yellow dot is an independent variable. For different bearing application systems, the number and definition of independent variables need to be treated differently.
